The coffee:  Good, but I couldn’t find anything out from the baristas about the beans or the ownership
Ownership:  Independent, I think
Friendliness of the baristas:  So so
Hipness:  No
Parking:  Excellent
Seating:  Terrible.  Very limited seating and the tables were teensy tiny.  There is a bar.
Free Wi-Fi supposedly but it wasn’t working when I went there.

I took a friend and client of mine who works for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation there since it’s close to his office.  There is at least one Starbucks in the area but I insisted we go to an indie coffee shop and this was recommended on facebook by a friend.

We visited Kona Coffee at about 10:00 on a Wednesday morning and it was empty.  It was a good thing because the seating is very cramped.  Only a few patrons visited while we were there and they all took their coffee to go, with good reason.  Situated in a strip mall, the atmosphere reminded more of a smoothie joint than a cozy coffee shop.  It was very difficult to balance my computer on the tiny table to make my demonstration to my client.

The coffee was okay.  I was disappointed because I wanted my coffee in a to-stay cup and it came in a to-go cup.  I’ve read the Kona coffee is authentic but I forgot to pick up my $40/lb bag on the way out.  I truly love the real Kona coffee and if I go back, it will be solely to get some Kona coffee.

The barista was nice enough, but lacked charisma and seemed rather bored.  I can’t really comment on the clientele because it was virtually empty for the hour I was there.

All in all, I think it’s nice there is an independent coffee shop in Lakewood, but I wish it were bigger and had a less sterile feel to it.  Again, if I go back it will be solely for take-out Kona coffee.  This place is not conducive to face-to-face confidential conversations with friends.  Since my friend likes it, I may have to give it another chance.
